''If we climb high enough, we will reach a height from which tragedy ceases to look so tragic'' Irvin Yalom
Are you feeling low, experiencing anxiety or depression, or perhaps struggling with difficult emotions?
May be you feel stuck and can see no end in sight?
Counselling with Nikki aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable. Nikki is there to support you and respect your views. She will not usually give advice, but will help you find your own insight and understanding of your problems.

Concessions may be available for students and those on a low income.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR SESSIONS
I practice the Person Centred Theory, which accepts client's life experiences and choices without judgement. Person centred theory states that as individuals we have three components, which make up our self concept:
If given the right opportunities, i.e. a therapeutic relationship, clients are able to move towards self-acceptance, change and growth.
Nikki will offer you a regular weekly appointment time in a non-judgmental, safe and confidential space. During this time, she will encourage you to express the difficult emotions and feelings that you are struggling with. By safely exploring your feelings, you will be able to gain insight and understanding of yourself and your thought processes better, as well as identifying ways of finding your own solution to problems.
MINDFULNESS AND CREATIVITY
For some clients starting a counselling session with a short mindfulness exercise can be helpful in checking in at the beginning of a counselling session. Mindfulness is a very simple form of meditation; a typical meditation consists of focusing your full attention on your breath as it flows in and out of your body. The practice of Mindfulness has been shown to have a positive influence on health, well-being, and happiness. With your permission, I may introduce some creative working into your session; this could be simply using crayons, felts or natural objects such as pebbles or shells, or objects such as Russian Dolls.
Using creativity in counselling can help you to express what you are feeling when you perhaps may not be able to find the words. The images you create may help you see yourself or your situation better, leading to greater understanding and acceptance of yourself.
