ABOUT ADULT ADHD ASSESSMENTS

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)  is often associated with childhood, but it is important to recognise that ADHD can persist into adulthood, affecting millions of individuals worldwide. While the symptoms may manifest differently in adults compared to children, the impact on daily functioning and overall well-being can be profound.

Receiving a diagnosis of ADHD in adulthood can be a life changing experience, offering individuals the opportunity to understand and manage their symptoms successfully. From improved self-awareness to enhanced quality of life, the benefits of an ADHD diagnosis and ADHD treatment are profound. By seeking assessment and support, adults with ADHD can unlock their potential, overcome challenges, and lead rich, fulfilling lives.

In order to receive a diagnosis of ADHD,  undergoing a comprehensive assessment by a qualified professional is essential. The assessment itself is a thorough process, which involves an evaluation of the symptoms, exploration of your history, and psychological and social functioning. Various specialised screening tools and diagnostic criteria, such as the DSM-5 are used to confirm the ADHD diagnosis.
Once diagnosed, adults can work with healthcare providers to develop a personalised treatment plan. This plan may include medication, therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and access to support services.

THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

When it comes to ADHD assessment and diagnosis you will receive a whole-person approach. The process is not just a quick ‘tick box’ practice, it starts with attentively listening to your journey, using   the highest standard tools, whilst following the guidelines for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

The ADHD assessment is evidence-based, adhering to the highest standards of practice set in the UK. The report that you receive is very detailed, in a lot of cases roughly 25 A4 pages long, explaining the findings and containing recommendations.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

ADHD assessment including consultation call, around 3.5 hours private assessment, provision of access to online questionnaires and diagnostic tools, the write up of your results on the diagnostic tools, feedback session, outcome letter and final report with results and recommendations is at the cost of £1270*.

* A 50% deposit of the fee is required once an assessment is agreed. Following the completion of pre-assessment questionnaires, the remaining balance is required to be paid in full.

The process of the assessment usually takes place over a number of days. The provision of the final report also depends on how quickly you are able to complete the online questionnaires and diagnostic tools. If you wish the processes to be quicker, where possible, I’m more than happy to be flexible around this.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE ASSESSMENT

The assessment process combines technology and healthcare, offering the highest standard of service when assessing and diagnosing ADHD.  Individuals can choose the comfort of their own home to complete the questionnaires, connecting to the session remotely or the option of the consultation taking place face-to-face.

The assessment is an evidence-based process, which entails the following steps:

1. Enquiry:
Once I receive your enquiry, I will contact you with further details of what the assessment entails and to confirm what you can expect.

2. Questionnaires:
Questionnaires will be sent for you and your  informant, a person who has known you well for a long time, if you have one,  to complete .

3. Mental Health and Psychological Assessment:
Following the completion of the questionnaires, a 60-minute mental health/psychological assessment is conducted.

4. ADHD Assessment:
Following the mental health and psychological assessment, a specialist interview takes place, called the  DIVA interview, which lasts 90-120 minutes.

5. Computerised ADHD assessment:
The DIVA  assessment  is followed by  a computerised assessment of symptoms, called QbCheck, which you can complete on your own, at the comfort of your home.

6. Feedback session The ADHD assessment process concludes with a 30-minute feedback session via telephone.

7. Outcome letter Within 48 hours of the feedback session, an outcome letter is shared with you.

8. Final report As a final step, the  final report is  shared which will be received within 4 weeks of the initial assessment session taking place.
