LOUISE HUDSON – SANGUINE THERAPY

WHAT IS COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL HYPNOTHERAPY?

Louise offers Cognitive Behavioral Hypnotherapy (CBH) to help people identify what is keeping them stuck and to find new ways to connect with their strengths. Blending the structure and evidence-base of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the power of hypnosis, relaxation and mindfulness, it is a modern, research- based approach to emotional and physical wellbeing. This form of hypnotherapy is a safe and effective, non-trance method which uses focussed attention alongside heightened suggestibility to help people make positive, lasting changes in their lives.

It is particularly helpful for people experiencing anxiety in all its forms.

HOW COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL HYPNOTHERAPY SUPPORTS CHANGE

Working with Louise you will explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors and set clear, realistic goals. Tools and techniques are practised in sessions and through this personalised support, including recordings and resources, new patterns in ways of thinking and behaving develop. It is a structured, time-limited and skills- focussed approach to support lasting change.

WHAT THIS THERAPY HELPS WITH

Anxiety and insomnia often show up during times of transition and stress including changes in career, navigating relationships or parenthood, facing pressure at work or education and when facing health challenges or big life shifts such as menopause. Hypnotherapy is well known for supporting people to overcome fears and phobias, addictions and pain, it can also provide tailored support for specific conditions. Louise specialises in working with adults who need support with:

  • Anxiety and overthinking
  • Insomnia and sleep disturbances
  • Peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms
  • Conflict and anger management
  • Stress and burnout
  • Low confidence, performance blocks and imposter syndrome
  • Procrastination, perfectionism and ADHD symptoms.

ABOUT PERI-MENOPAUSE AND MENOPAUSE

Louise says: “Midlife can signal a profound shift for women and not just hormonally.”

Symptoms may include anxiety, pain, mood swings, brain-fog, hot-flushes and insomnia. Some women may find their relationships under strain and the demands of work and family life overwhelming.

Whilst these changes may be extremely challenging to cope with, menopause and perimenopause also provide women with an opportunity to grow, reflect and explore how the second-half of life might look different in positive ways. Having gone through these change myself and emerged on the other side I will support you with understanding and hope.” In sessions you will:

  • Explore how your symptoms are impacting your life and agree goals for therapy and a treatment plan
  • Use hypnotherapy, relaxation and mindfulness to alleviate the impact of symptoms. These techniques can be particularly beneficial if you experience pain, anxiety, hot flushes and mood swings
  • Work within the framework of CBT to help you address insomnia and to discover where your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are holding you back
  • Use ACT to explore your values and any action you want to take to move into the second half of life feeling hopeful and positive.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT WORKING WITH LOUISE

Louise has worked with a range of clients during her time practising in her therapy business Sanguine Therapy; here’s what some of them have to say about working with Louise:

Sarah is a working mum who Louise treated online for generalised anxiety, peri- menopausal symptoms and a specific phobia: “Lou’s calm and caring manner made it easy to work with her and have the trust to feel comfortable, especially when in hypnosis. I found our time together very useful and more impactful than other therapies I have tried in terms of providing me with tools that I can access easily.”

Lisa, a mum of twins, worked freelance as a consultant, Louise treated her online for generalised anxiety, phobia and panic: “I appreciated Louise’s ability to create trust and rapport, which enabled me to feel safe and comfortable in her sessions. She responded and tailored sessions to how I was feeling and what I could cope with.”

James, a musician wanted to find joy in performing again, rather than focus on feelings of anxiety; Louise worked with James in person over three sessions: “I found the therapy to have an immediate benefit The personalised performance script is great and I will continue to use this. I have been using the personalised script before all of my public performances for the past 6 months. I find that it significantly reduces the anxiety levels I used to experience before and during my performances.”

Dean, in his fifties had been experiencing conflict in a relationship for several years, Louise worked online with Dean: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you most sincerely for the help and support you have given over the last 2 months…it was very informative and helpful and I have some coping strategies to help me deal with the situation…the relaxation sessions you have gone through with me have been most helpful and thanks again.”

Louise Hudson – Sanguine Therapy – Cognitive Behavioral Hypnotherapist

ABOUT LOUISE

Louise is a Level 5 Cognitive Behavioral Hypnotherapist, trained by the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. Approved by the British Psychological Society, the course combines the evidence base of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with hypnosis.

Louise has undertaken additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and CBH for Insomnia. CBT is the NHS-recommended approach to treating insomnia.

ACT is a modern approach to CBT and Louise draws on it in her hypnotherapeutic work. ACT focuses on managing thoughts and feelings, rather than eliminating them, to increase psychological flexibility and helps people commit to actions aligned with their values.  Louise found this approach very powerful in making changes in her own life, having struggled with anxiety, self-critical thoughts and insomnia during challenging times.

Louise is also a qualified independent mediator. This helps when working with people experiencing inner conflict or challenges in their relationships. Before training as a hypnotherapist and mediator, Louise worked in managerial roles in the NHS and the voluntary sector, developing services and supporting individuals through challenging times, including long-term and mental illness and end of life.

She has an MSc in Public Health, and her area of focus was around Social Prescribing – exploring how reconnecting with community helps people recover from depression and anxiety. She is also a mum to three grown-up children and understand the joys, stresses and strains of family life.

Louise is fully insured and registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register and General Hypnotherapy Standards Council.

Louise Hudson – Cognitive behavioural Hypnotherapist

What is Hypnotherapy

Despite common myths, hypnosis isn’t mind control or sleep-state. You stay fully aware and in control throughout. You can speak, move, or pause the session at any time.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis – it only works with your full consent and participation. It is safe and empowering as you use your motivation, imagination and attention to respond to suggestions.

In a therapeutic setting, hypnotherapy helps quiet the inner critic and – alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – allows you to explore thoughts, emotions and behaviour more freely. This combined approach with hypnotherapy can lead to insight and change more quickly than traditional talk therapy.

How does mindfulness work alongside hypnotherapy?

Mindfulness in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) includes present moment awareness, breathing techniques and letting go of judgement.

We may use ACT, a therapy that combines behavioural tools with mindfulness to help you engage with life more fully.

These approaches support emotional regulation and increase awareness of thoughts, feelings, body and environment – helping you respond rather than react.

This can be especially helpful for managing anxiety and conflict, as it allows you to recognise that difficult thoughts and sensations are temporary, they can be accepted and they don’t need to define you.

Used together, mindfulness and hypnotherapy can help you feel more grounded, relaxed and open to change.
