The roots of Reflexology can go back way further than we even know. Connections are believed to exist back to the Ancient Chinese cultures and the Ancient Egyptian Cultures. There is historical evidence dating back to 2330BC in the form of wall painting in the tomb of Ankhmohor, an Egyptian official to the king. Reflexology is a science based on the knowledge that every part of the body is reflected in the feet. Energy zones run through the body, which connect the organs and structures within their zone, when stimulated you release the blocked energy which has been stored.
By the use of specialised thumb and finger techniques on the different areas of the feet you release energy blocks in the corresponding organs in the body and enhance the body's natural healing process.
Reflexology works to relax the muscle tension through out the body. During a treatment all parts of the feet re stimulated to relax the muscles and increase the circulation of oxygenated blood to all pats of the body. The outcome of this will increase a deep state of relaxation. A reflexology treatment can be both relaxing and stimulating for the patient. As muscle tensions are relaxed, and the nervous system freed from constriction, the body slips into a deep state of relaxation. At the same time, your circulation is being stimulated to bring nutrients to all parts of the body and to remove waste products and toxins that interfere with the healthy functioning of your body.
